First

Eve 10 Year Sale - Eve is celebrating their 10 year anniversary as a brand. Congratulations to the team. What an incredible milestone! They are having a sale over on their website with bigger discounts as your order total gets above $100.

If I had to pick one Eve product as my favorite, it would be Eve Door and Window. It’s not the smallest contact sensor, but it works straight with Matter over Thread, it’s easy to change the batteries when necessary, and it comes with a clever system for adjusting the height of the smaller end of the sensor on different door frames. I have three of Eve Door and Windows in my home and they continue to work well.

Second

Ubiquiti UniFi UPS - Ubiquiti is adding the natural UniFi product line extension of uninterruptible power source (UPS) devices with a tower model available now, and a beefier 2U rack-mount version shipping later this month. While the company already had smart power strips, they didn’t have a true UPS solution with a battery to provide backup power to your gear. Clay Archer at DPC Technology had a nice video explaining the feature details and what a practical option this seems to be for a lot of UniFi setups. I purchased one that delivered yesterday, but I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet.

Third

New Apple tech imminent? - October is a month where Apple has historically unveiled new Macs, but based on the rumors I wouldn’t be surprised if a new HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K launched too. I don’t have any inside info, but I’ll be looking out for announcements!

The schedule

Last week I posted a video about smart home products I didn’t realize would be so useful until I tried them. I also had special guest George Langabeer on my livestream which was a lot of fun. George recently moved into a new place and he posted a great video about it over on his channel. We talked all about the details on my livestream.

On Thursday night I’ll be joined by Jimmy Hawkins aka Automated House on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. I always enjoy talking to Jimmy at CES and I think having him on the livestream will be a real treat.

I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday.

Best,
Eric
